Research at Iracambi

Come and join in our work

Iracambi caters for either individuals or teams of researchers who want to participate in one of our ongoing research programs. Visit our Research Portal to see the details of our research program. We provide logistical support, linguistic skills and access to our own living laboratory in the Atlantic Rainforest. We also welcome researchers who have their own research projects, as long as they are consistent with our own priorities.

Iracambi fully endorses our Government's efforts to protect intellectual property rights and national genetic resources and eradicate illegal trafficking in natural species. This does mean, however, that there are certain restrictions on foreign researchers working in Brazil: we can advise you of these if you think they might apply to you.

If you´d be interested in joining our research program, either with your own research ideas or to take part in ours, contact us.

All the research we do needs to feed, ultimately, into providing answers for the people of our community about managing their forest. We don't do pure research: we work on applied, practical questions. The research areas in which we would welcome your participation are:

We are seeking partners for a new project: community based monitoring of forest growth

If you would be interested in taking part of any of these projects, let us know.

We also have opportunities for researcher or student groups, either teacher led or not. Here are our ideas on this but if you'd like to propose something different, just run it past us.

You can also carry out some of your research at our partner Ecosara Center, in the San Rafael National Park in Paraguay. For more information on this, see http://www.faunaparaguay.com/ecosarahome.html

Iracambi is the only Research Center in Brazil affiliated to the Organization of Biological Field Stations (www.obfs.org).
