This is the Nursery where the planting is done for our medicinal plants project and our reforestation projects. Each year we reforest part of our land, and through our Forest Futures scheme - which allows people to adopt plots of land which we will reforest and legally protect we are also reforesting land outside of Iracambi. |

The classroom is used for our environmental education and outreach events. We have events for people of all ages from the local area. They come here to share experiences and information, to talk about issues that affect the local area and to get excited about the environment they live and work in. |

Next door to the classroom is the laboratory. The medicinal plants project works here to find alternative ways for farmers to make money from their land.
Most of the land in the area is in private hands, so the best way to protect it is to give it some value - rather than farmers seeing it as an impediment or something to be fought against and tamed. The project is working to change this using plants that grow naturally in the forests of this area to provide an alternative source of income for farmers. |

This is the view from the dawn trail - one of our network of trails that we have around the Fazenda. They provide access to different areas for researchers and volunteers - both for work and for play. The trails are also used in our environmental education and outreach program. |
