Website Design and Maintenance
Help us to spread the word about
our work
|
How do people in the outside world find
out about us and become volunteers and researchers here?
The first part of the process is finding out about us. So
the first point of contact that people have with Iracambi
- who we are, what we stand for, what we are trying to do
- is through our website.
Our website is our way of telling the
world what we do. We need to make sure that it is as easy
as possible for volunteers and researchers to find us, and
find out about us. This role entails keeping the website
as up to date as possible - whether this is updating existing
information, or adding new details. Making the website as
easy and enjoyable to navigate as possible. It also needs
to be done in a simple way so that the improvements can
be maintained without needing a high level of technical
expertise.

Ongoing work
- Keeping the information as relevant as possible.
- Making sure that all the links around, into and out of our
site are fully functioning.
- Optimising the website so it is as easy as possible for future
researchers and volunteers to find us through search engines.
- Updating each of the webpages within the time limits we have
set.
Current priorities
- Improving the navigation of the site.
- Updating the information we provide for potential volunteers
and researchers.
- Updating the tour on the website.
- Optimising the website to get higher rankings through search
engines.
Skills and expertise needed
- HTML proficient.
- Familiarity with web design and web page programs (we use
DreamWeaver).
Time frames
This is a role which needs to be filled all year round.
Project update
Our website has no broken links out of it, or around it, and
we are keeping this trend going. We are constantly working to
optimise the website, to make it easier for people to find us.
New webpages, like this one, have been added for all the volunteer
roles that we offer. We have also added some new pages for the
Forest Futures
program - which allows people to adopt a plot of rainforest.
