Another way to get involved if you don't have the time to come here as a researcher or volunteer

Volunteers and researchers support the work that we do by donating their time. If you would like to get involved, but cannot offer yourself as a volunteer or researcher, you could support our work by donating some much needed resources. All the things listed on this page are to be used by volunteers and researchers who are working on our projects. We have a wide range of projects that our volunteers work on, as well as our research priorities - and thus we have a wide range of resource needs to supplement the initiative of our researchers and volunteers.

Equipment

We are constantly seeking to improve the facilities that we can offer researchers and volunteers. The better the facilities are, the more efficiently the volunteers and researchers can work. We need:

  • Computers
  • Printers
  • Photocopier
  • Monitors
  • Digital Camera
  • Dictaphone
  • Hand held GPS recorders
  • Scanner
  • CD Burner
  • Microscopes
  • Thermometers
  • Walkie-Talkies

Reference Materials

We have a reference library of materials for volunteers and researchers to make use of in the many different research and volunteer roles we have here. We are constantly looking to improve upon and extend.

  • English - Portuguese/Portuguese - English dictionaries
  • Any old (or new) videos on environmental themes, such as Discovery Program, Disney nature films or BBC Wildlife programs
  • Any books on environmental matters aimed at children for our Environmental Education program
  • Any materials on the Atlantic Rainforest

Miscellania

Below is a selection of miscellaneous items we can always make use of in our volunteer and research programs:

  • Binoculars
  • Butterfly nets
  • Stationery for our Environmental Education program
  • Garden tools
  • DIY tools
  • Spare parts for our Land Rover
  • If you have just won the lottery and are feeling super generous, we urgently need a meteorological station: they cost about $14,000.
  • We are supporting the creation of Volunteer Forest Fire Brigade with help from the State Forest Institute. Their support stops at training, leaving somebody else (-you, perhaps?...) to provide the basic equipment they need - fire beaters and backpack sprayers

If you do find any of the above items lurking about in the attic, or a similar location, please do e-mail us.
