Course on Sustainable Development August 5 - 17, 2012
Iracambi offers a you an experience you will never gain in a classroom. This two week course gives an introduction to Sustainable Development in a fragile environment. It focuses on practical insights into the real world situation where the demands of economic development and environment conservation have to be reconciled. The course is intended for undergraduates studying environmental science, international studies, economic development, and more.
Students will gain academic and hands-on exposure to topics in rainforest conservation including:
Environmental monitoring with local students
Sustainability in the rainforest – current strategies
Development from the perspective of rural communities
Field visits to study land degradation and reforestation
